Do you really think you can compete with Aunt Jemima? Or Mrs. Butterworth? Those ladies are experienced, established syrupiers. Their syrup heritage goes back to the plantation days of syruping. They have the ghosts of heralded syrupiers on their side. Maybe you should start out by conquering one of the little guys, like Log Cabin?

I received this last week from Jim at work. This is the kind of negativity we face every day, guys. I am so proud of the both of you, of all of us! We have come so far, we have learned that you can't climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets. Right guys?! And even though we have put in some long and early hours we are reaping the benefits of our love of syrup. I am very happy that we have not let Jim's negativity get us down.

We have learned that a successful man is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him. But, I guess that in our case it would be "a successful syrupier can build a log cabin out of the sticks that other syrupiers throw at them." Way to go guys - we have done a great job and I am very proud of us!
