We got the silliest memo at work yesterday. It was announced that our department had the most sick days used out of the entire hospital. We each got a form letter on which our sick days were lovingly handwritten. Those who had only used "0-1" sick days in the last calendar year received a $5 gift certificate to the hospital gift shop, with a note saying the hospital appreciates that those people did not abuse the sick day policy. If you actually did get sick in the past year and had to use "2 to 5" days (which was my category) you were told that "your responsible use of sick leave is appreciated. However, should your sick leave tally rise, disciplinary action may be required." The final category, the bracket of shame, was if you used 6+ sick days, and they said that sick leave is only to be used if you are actually sick and they may have to cut down your hours worked if you continue to use your sick time in such a frivolous manner. What is the sick time there for, peoples? Hilarious!
