Here's what it's like when you both work at home and have a 2 year old. You wake up around 9 or 10. One of you hangs out with the kid (i.e., watch Teletubbies, feed him mango, pretend to be the scary monster or yappy dog and chase him around) while the other tries to get work done, preferably outside of the house. Then you switch roles after a few hours. It's fun! Then at night when husband's band is playing you coerce the 12-yr-old girl across the street (who is admittedly young but also the oldest of a big Catholic family and is great with kids) to babysit from 10 pm till 11:30 so you can go see husband's set. Then you have to race home after about four songs so that you can get her home on time because that's really pretty late for a 12 year old. And you feel a little sorry for yourself until you realize that an hour and a half is the perfect amount of time to spend in a bar because 1. you can only drink enough to hit the perfect level where you're giddy but still okay to drive (cold medicine and anti-depressants factored in) and 2. the smoke hasn't settled into your clothes and hair enough to warrant having to wash them. Then you get home and your son is still hopped up on mango and mandarin oranges so you play for awhile while you wait for daddy to come home, then put him in his dinosaur pj's and put him to bed while listening to the Twin Peaks soundtrack (highly recommended for making you sleepy) and he pats your face and pulls your ear as he goes to sleep.

Working from home is fun!
